Privacy Policy

What this is

FamilyGlue is a self-hosted family organiser — to-dos, a calendar, chores, a shopping list, and a pocket-money tracker. Some of it is private to you and some is shared with the family you join. There is no advertising and no analytics in the app.

What data is collected

• Account info — your name, email address, and (if you sign in with Google) profile picture.
• Content you create — to-dos and the projects they belong to, calendar events, chores, shopping list items, and pocket-money entries, including their titles, notes, amounts, dates, and repeat settings.
• Usage of that content — when a to-do or chore is marked complete and by whom, and when a pocket-money entry was approved or declined.
• Family membership — which family you belong to, the display name and relationship label shown for you in it, and whether you are a guardian.
• Health information — if you or a guardian choose to record it: allergies, medical conditions, medications, blood type, and free-text notes, for you or for a child profile. This is optional; the app works perfectly well with none of it filled in.
• Family contacts — names, phone numbers, email addresses, and addresses you add for people like a doctor, a school, or an emergency contact. These may describe people outside your family, so only add details you have a reason to keep.

Health information

Health details are the most sensitive thing FamilyGlue stores, so they are handled more tightly than everything else. Guardians in your family can see and edit them for any member — that is the point, since a guardian is who needs a child’s allergy in a hurry. Anyone who is not a guardian sees only their own, and the app never even loads another member’s record for them.

Health details are never shown in kiosk mode — a shared tablet that anyone can pick up without a password is the wrong place for them. They are not included in anyone else’s data export either: your export contains your own record and no one else’s, even if you are a guardian.

FamilyGlue is not a medical record system and should not be treated as one. It is a convenient place to keep notes a babysitter, relative, or paramedic might need — nothing more.

What your family can see

Your to-dos and projects are always private to you. Calendar events are private by default and shared with your family only when you mark them as shared. Chores, the shopping list, and pocket-money balances are shared within your family by design — guardians can see and manage every member’s chores and balances, while other members see only their own balance. Family contacts are readable by everyone in the family, since a phone number nobody can find in a hurry is useless, but only guardians can change them. Health information follows its own, tighter rules — see below.

How it’s used

Solely to run the app for you and your family — showing your to-dos, calendar, chores and balances back to you, and keeping you signed in. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train anything.

Where it’s stored

In a database operated by whoever runs this instance of FamilyGlue for you — not a third-party cloud service. If you don’t know who that is for the instance you’re using, ask them.

Third parties

The only third party involved is Google, if you choose to sign in with it — FamilyGlue receives your name, email, and profile picture from Google to create your account, and nothing else. Google’s own privacy policy covers what Google does with your Google account.

Your data, your control

From the Account page, you can download a complete copy of your data at any time, or permanently delete your account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone — nothing is kept in a backup or retained after the fact.

Deleting your account removes your to-dos, projects, calendar events, your family membership, your own pocket-money ledger, your own health details, and the record of chores you completed. Things you contributed to a shared family list — chores you set up for others, items on the shopping list, contacts you added — stay with that family, but are no longer linked to you. If you are the only guardian of a family, you will be asked to hand that role to someone else or delete the family first, so it is never left with nobody able to manage it.

Cookies

One cookie to keep you signed in. If a guardian turns on kiosk mode on a shared device, two more are set on that device only — to remember which family it belongs to and which child is currently using it. No advertising or tracking cookies are set.

Children’s data

Children do not get accounts. A guardian can add a child profile, which stores only a display name and an optional relationship label — no email address, no password, no contact details. Once added, that profile can have chores assigned to it, a record of which chores were completed and when, calendar events created for it, a pocket-money ledger, and — if a guardian chooses to record it — health details such as allergies or medications.

All of it is created and controlled by the family’s guardians, who can remove a child profile at any time from the Family page — doing so permanently deletes that child’s pocket-money history and health details along with it. On a device where kiosk mode is turned on, a child can tick off their own chores and see their own balance without signing in; that does not create an account or collect anything further about them.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the “last updated” date above will change too.
